Angular Structure of Energy Losses of Hard Jet in Dense Qcd-matter
نویسندگان
چکیده
Angular structure of radiative and collisional energy losses of a hard parton jet propagating through dense QCD-matter is investigated. For small angular jet cone sizes, θ0 ∼ 50 − 100, the radiative energy loss is shown to dominate over the collisional energy loss due to final state elastic rescattering of the hard projectile on thermal particles in the medium. Due to coherent effects, the radiative energy loss decreases with increasing the angular size the jet. It becomes comparable with the collisional energy loss for θ0 ∼ 100. In-medium Parton Energy Losses and Characteristics of Hadronic Jets in Ultra-relativistic Nuclear Collisions
The angular structure of collisional and radiative energy losses of a hard parton jet propagating through the quark-gluon plasma is analyzed. The possibility to observe the energy losses of quarkand gluon-initiated jets in dense QCD-matter (jet quenching) measuring the characteristics of real hadronic jets in ultra-relativistic collisions of nuclei is investigated. In particular, using calorime...

In this note, we report on the study of jet+ jet, γ + jet and Z(→ μμ) + jet production in heavy ion collisions. In particular, we review the capability of the CMS detector to observe the energy losses of quarkand gluon-initiated jets in a dense QCD matter. 1 Jet quenching: jet + jet, γ + jet and Z + jet production Hard jet production is considered to be an efficient probe for formation of super...

The most suitable way to study the jet quenching as a function of distance traversed is varying the impact parameter b of ultrarelativistic nucleus-nucleus collision (initial energy density in nuclear overlapping zone is almost independent of b up to b ∼ RA). It is shown that b-dependences of medium-induced radiative and collisional energy losses of a hard parton jet propagating through dense Q...

We analyze the sensitivity of the collisional and radiative energy losses of hard par-tonic jets to the main parameters and space-time evolution of the dense matter, which is expected to be created in ultra{relativistic heavy ion collisions. The problem of \true\ QCD-jets recognition against the \false\ jets background (statistical uctuations of the transverse energy ux arising from a huge mult...
متن کاملHeavy Ion Physics with the ATLAS detector
Recent results from RHIC experiments suggest that a hot and dense QCD matter, which maybe the quark gluon plasma (QGP), is formed in Gold+Gold collisions at a center mass energy of 200 GeV per colliding nucleon pair. The LHC is planning to accelerate heavy nuclei such as Lead at energies of 2.75 TeV/nucleon. At these energies it will be possible to produce a even higher temperature QCD matter. ...
